The topic of IntWeek is "Simulation Based Learning", and the event will take place from November 4 to November 8, 2019 in Valmiera, Latvia.

Starting from July 2019, a series of professional development activities for lecturers take place within the framework of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project “Simulation Games in Strategic Communication” (SimGames). From July 1 to July 4, the University of Tartu hosted a training session for lecturers, during which the work on a new social simulation scenario was started. The aim is to contribute the students' communication, conflict resolution, collaboration and other competences, which are needed in today's labour market.

From April 23 to April 27 industry professionals from Ukraine, Namibia, Belgium, Estonia, Lithuania, Albania, Portugal, Israel, Egypt and Czech Republic are holding lectures at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) as part of its annual International Week.

An innovation camp in tourism product development gathered 23 tourism students and 14 tourism lecturers from Finland, Estonia and Latvia in Saaremaa, Estonia. The camp, organised by the Central Baltic project BOOSTED, focused on local heritage and unspoiled nature – forest and sea – at low season.

In collaboration with Vilnius University (VU) and Tartu University (TU), Vidzeme University of Applied Science (ViA) researchers are launching the project on the use of social simulations in the study process. Using the simulation scenarios, which will be developed during the project, it is planned to improve students' abilities to solve non-standard situations, operate under uncertainty conditions and find creative solutions in complex problem situations, while lecturers will learn about creation and implementation of social simulations, as well as assessment of students' skills and competences.

In order to promote the cohesion and civic participation of Latvian society, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences has launched a three-year research project “Values in Action: promotion of responsible, secure and educated civil society in Latvia through research and development of action models”(project Nr.  VPP-IZM-2018/1-0013).
