Resumption of Study

 

If you wish to resume your studies at Vidzeme University after a break, you must*:

1. Complete an application for the resumption of studies, coordinating it with all the persons indicated in it.
2. Contact the director of the study direction, who will prepare an individual study plan for you.
3. Come to the Administrative Department with the individual study plan and the completed application (Valmiera, Cēsu street 4, room C205).
4. The responsible employee of the study administration group will prepare the study contract.

*It is possible to resume studies after an academic break only at the beginning of the semester from which the studies were interrupted. When the procedure for resuming studies has been completed, the student continues his studies according to the study plan that is valid for the relevant study year, coordinating the completion of the gap between study courses with an individual study plan approved by the program director.

 

After exmatriculation you must:

1. Complete an application for the resumption of studies, coordinating it with all the persons indicated in it.
2. Contact the director of the study program, who will prepare an individual study plan for you.
3. Come to the Administrative Department with the completed application (Valmiera, Cēsu street 4, room C205).
4. The responsible employee of the study administration group will prepare the study contract

 

To complete state examination:

1. Complete an application for the resumption of studies, coordinating it with all the persons indicated in it.
2. Come to the Administrative Department with the completed application (Valmiera, Cēsu street 4, room C205).
3. The responsible employee of the study administration group will prepare the study contract.
4. Pay the redrafting and defending the final examination fees set by the Senate.

 

According to the price list of ViA paid services, the registration fee for the process of resuming studies is EUR 10.00.

Termination of studies

 

During the studies, the student has the right to temporarily interrupt his studies - to receive a study break, the duration of which is two semesters in a row, no more than twice. The minimum study break is one academic year. To receive a study break, the student fills out and submits an application , coordinating it with all the persons indicated in it.

  1. A student can receive a study break only at the beginning of the semester. A break from academic studies after a semester has started can only be granted due to medical reasons or other exceptional circumstances.
  2. Study place financed by the state is kept only in cases where the interruption of studies is justified by a document that confirms: long-term illness or birth of a child.
  3. During the study break, the student is not allowed to participate in the study process and attend to academic obligations.
  4. During the study break study fees are not applicable. The paid study fee for the relevant semester is not refunded, but it is transferred for the continuation of studies, if the interruption of studies is completed no later than within five working days from the beginning of the semester.
  5. Resuming studies after a study break is allowed only at the beginning of the semester. The student can submit an application for the resumption of studies to the ViA employee responsible no later than on the fifth working day of the semester.
  6. After a study break, studies are continued according to the study plan or the individual plan approved by the director of the study direction.
