Foreign experts, teaching staff and researchers will meet at European University E3UDRES2 International Week in Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences

From May 15 to 19, 2023, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) will host the activities of International Week, which is given the following motto this year – Future university. Connecting regions. The week is designed to give the European University E³UDRES² partners and other ViA cooperation partners the opportunity to network, create long-term contacts for joint studies, research and innovation development, and share their experience with students, young people, and representatives of several organizations in the region.

Throughout the week, ViA students and other interested parties will have the opportunity to meet more than 40 experts and teaching staff from different countries who will give lectures, seminars and participate in discussions on current topics in society.

"Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences is part of the European University E³UDRES² and provides knowledge and experience about future challenges and opportunities for universities. E³UDRES² is an alliance of European universities - a network of European higher education institutions that work together and cooperate in areas such as research, teaching, innovation, etc. To emphasize this international cooperation and the opportunities that Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences can offer to students and teaching staff in this network, we have decided to dedicate the International Week to activities and topics that unite higher education institutions in regions not only in Europe," says ViA Rector Agnese Dāvidsone.

The opening of the International Week will take place on Monday, May 15, including a panel discussion on the transformation of universities and an introduction to the Latvian language and culture. May 16 will be devoted to discussions about the university of the future and an exhibition of foreign universities in the afternoon. The theme of May 17 is sustainability, and it is organized in cooperation with Tartu University Pärnu College in Estonia. On May 18, there will be a discussion about the topic of digitization, its growing role and how universities can help Ukraine. May 19 will be dedicated to the importance of experimentation in the development of innovation and entrepreneurship, when not only the experience and lessons of entrepreneurial people will be discussed, but also the E³UDRES² research team will present the final work of the I-Residency, which is being developed in cooperation with Valmiera Business Incubator of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency and Valmiera Development Agency. In addition, the Wood Technology Hackathon (May 18-19) and the Virtual Reality Hackathon (May 19-20) will present their results at the respective closing events.

The program of the International Week with open lectures and events, and opportunities to follow panel discussions online will be announced on va.lv in the near future.
