
Consortium of Three Universities Developed a New Doctoral Programme
Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Rezekne Academy of Technologies and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences received the license on 5 February 2020, and from September this year will start implementing the doctoral study programme “Economics and Business”.
The aim of the programme is to prepare highly qualified experts (specialists) and researchers for analytical and top-level management work in the public and private sectors who are able to create new knowledge in business and economics in the Latvian, European and global research area.
The joint study programme envisages in-depth study of design and visionary thinking, multidisciplinary approach, ability to understand economic development, organizational governance and individual behaviour, research-based decision-making, and the development of resilience to purposefully pursue research and innovation in business and in the smart growth of the economy.
"Three universities in regions are able to find the most suitable doctoral thesis adviser for each student and ensure the highest quality of each topic in the study process, inviting the most outstanding professors and researchers, it opens up wider scientific communication in the development of a doctoral thesis", said Study Programme Director at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Professor, Director and Lead Researcher of the Institute of Social, Economic and Humanities Research Agita Līviņa.
Rector, Professor and Study Programme Director at Rezekne Academy of Technologies Iveta Mietule points out that the cooperation of three higher education institutions will allow providing high quality studies and comprehensive support for doctoral students in the development of the doctoral thesis.
There are 5 state-supported study places available in the study programme “Economics and Business” at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, while 2 state-supported study places are available in the study programme “Sociotechnical Systems Modelling”.
Admission to the doctoral study programmes:
The application for studies will be possible from June 29 to August 20 on working days from 10:00 to 13:00 at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Cēsu Street 4, Room C205.
At Rezekne Academy of Technologies (RTA) and Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, the application for studies will be open from July 6 to August 27. At RTA, applicants can submit the documents in the electronic system https://www.rta.lv, while at Ventspils University of Applied Sciences applicants will be able to send the documents and certified copies by post (with a reference to the study programme) to the address: Inženieru iela 101, Ventspils, LV-3601.
For bachelor’s level programmes, application is open until august 3th electronically www.va.lv/en.
Electronic application for the master's programmes is possible until august 3th electronically www.va.lv/en.
Vidzeme University of Applied sciences offers 17 study programmes in the study fields of Business Administration; Information Technologies; Mechatronics; Construction; Communication, Media and Governance; and Tourism and Recreation.
