Erasmus+ exchange students arrive at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences

As the autumn semester begins, 14 foreign students from six different countries - Spain, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, India and Ukraine - start their studies at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA).

The foreign students begin their studies at ViA within the Erasmus+ program. In framework of various projects and programs, ViA has established partnership with more than 110 universities in 45 different countries, and the network is expanding every year.

Anna, the exchange student from the Netherlands, is excited to be in Valmiera and ready to learn Latvian language: “I have never been in Baltics before, so I thought it could be interesting. I am extremely excited to see, what the semestre holds.”

The International Project Manager at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences concludes: “The most significant increase in the number of foreign exchange students at ViA in recent years is from France, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, as well as Albania, Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries. "

Students represent different study programs and at ViA they will study within the International study module, will get acquainted with Latvia and Valmiera, Latvian language and culture. During the introductory week (from August 27 to August 31) the exchange students meet their mentors - ViA students, who help them to get around the university and learn about the study process. They are introduced to the university, Valmiera city and its surroundings. The students participate in lectures and student-organized events – excursions, orienteering and sports activities, as well as activity organized by the Improvisation Theatre ViAGars. They can also find answers to their questions during the Question and Answer evening.
